I am wanting to buy a john deere compact tractor. Which should I buy to be happy with? wanting to get the best buy for the money. What price range should I look for and where?

what are you going to be using your tractor for? what is your budget? are you convinced on just a john deere or have you looked at other models? more info needed to get a recomendation on what you should or shouldn't buy. ....

I think first you should decide exactly what you want the tractor
to do an take if from there.
For the typical home owner, the JD 2210, 4010, and 4110 would all
sever you well but the 2210 gives you the most bang for the buck. ....

Great--found it! It seems like many attachments aren't available for the 2210. Is it really a better deal? I'm assuming it's a better tractor than the 790--can someone confirm this? ....

It is a very different tractor than the 790. Different class I think. The 2210 compares directly to the BX and is in the ball park with 4010, 4100, B7500, B2410 and the small TC's.
If one of your proposed jobs was to plow some small acreage, I would steer you away from the 2210/BX class and more toward the 4115, 790, 2910, 1914 class(green, green, orange and other orange).
Don't misunderstand, a 2210/BX will run a tiller or a middle-buster and create a garden big enough to feed the neighborhood. It is just not built for more traditional tillage methods (plowing/disking) where the 790 has the wheel size and the power and the weight to edge into that window.
Conversely, the 790 would be way down the list if a primary task was finish mowing, and the 2210/BX at the top.
